So this was interesting. Apparently the T60 (ATI) version has an open issue about how the display fails to render properly (static, permanent tears). So that was a bummer.

Really wish design schools and mentors would push for a more “suckless” approach to UI/UX.

It’s great how so many developers strive for “just enough” code. Designers seems to struggle with adding far too much bloat these days. Whether it is to justify their jobs or simply an over engineering a problem, designers need to work on avoiding this.

Got everything tweaked and working nicely for my [#suckless](https://fosstodon.org/tags/suckless) [#alpine](https://fosstodon.org/tags/alpine) installer script.

Used my “throw away” SSD for testing. After I smooth out everything properly, I’ll run it again on my main machine. Then I’ll probably blog about it since that seems to be my thing 😛

Sorry [#void](https://fosstodon.org/tags/void) but you just can’t beat Alpine’s minimalism… ⌘ [Read more](https://fosstodon.org/@tdarb/109755719293186364) 2023-01-26T15:41:20Z **** ⌘ [Read more](https://fosstodon.org/@tdarb/109756264018095272) 2023-01-26T18:30:25Z ****
This is a must read for those looking to try out [#surf](https://fosstodon.org/tags/surf) as their main [#browser](https://fosstodon.org/tags/browser)

Seriously considering grabbing a Pinebook. Mostly to support the team and I like the look of them 😛

Anyone have good/bad things to say about the [#pinebook](https://fosstodon.org/tags/pinebook)

Posting this from my [#raspberrypi](https://fosstodon.org/tags/raspberrypi) 400 running [#alpine](https://fosstodon.org/tags/alpine) [#linux](https://fosstodon.org/tags/linux)

Using my "suckless" installer through Alpine went decently smooth with the rpi image.

Also running everything off an "internal" SSD, thanks to butchering my pi:

Still having minor issues with screen tearing even after setting up picom... ⌘ [Read more](https://fosstodon.org/@tdarb/109779589487922590) 2023-02-01T19:11:49Z ****
Even though I have a decent README for my "Void Suck" installer project, I thought putting together a simple one-page site would be nice:

I dream of a day where standard desktop computers are built similar to the [#raspberrypi](https://fosstodon.org/tags/raspberrypi) [#zero](https://fosstodon.org/tags/zero) form factor.

Seems like we are moving back to these behemoth machines… ⌘ [Read more](https://fosstodon.org/@tdarb/109800860443168459) 2023-02-05T21:33:46Z ****

Firefox on iOS has become a buggy mess recently. When the device switches from light to dark mode (and vice versa) the status bar does not reflect this change.

Also it seems “swiping” back on any page no longer saves my position, but instead places me at the top of said page.

Pretty bad UX regressions… ⌘ [Read more](https://fosstodon.org/@tdarb/109818231240024284) 2023-02-06T19:05:55Z ****
Always attracted to the "ecosystem" of [#KDE](https://fosstodon.org/tags/KDE). Their collection of apps, decently performance-focused DE through Plasma etc. ⌘ [Read more](https://fosstodon.org/@tdarb/109819353834354593) 2023-02-06T19:07:53Z ****
