Really wish design schools and mentors would push for a more “suckless” approach to UI/UX.

It’s great how so many developers strive for “just enough” code. Designers seems to struggle with adding far too much bloat these days. Whether it is to justify their jobs or simply an over engineering a problem, designers need to work on avoiding this.

Dear product designers / web devs:

You should avoid hamburger menus on the mobile web 9/10 times.

1\. No one implements them correctly

2\. Most fail when JavaScript is disabled - leaving site navigation useless

3\. A list of your navigation options works better for screen readers / keyboard movement

Just say “No” to hamburger menus. ⌘ [Read more](https://fosstodon.org/@tdarb/110264983268249599) 2023-04-28T16:13:45Z ****

Made some very minor updates to the "barf" blog generator:

There are now separate build files for [#macos](https://fosstodon.org/tags/macos) and [#openbsd](https://fosstodon.org/tags/openbsd). This avoids users needing to make direct changes and instead just slightly tweak the Makefile.

I plan to make a basic tutorial for OpenBSD folks 🙂

I have an i7 X220 arriving soon (snagged for $120 CDN - what a steal!)

The problem is I'm having an internal debate on whether I should install OpenBSD or Alpine on it. I've been spoiled with [#openbsd](https://fosstodon.org/tags/openbsd) so far on this X201, but Linux does have \*slightly\* more flexibility/ported packages...

Had to work through some minor issues when getting the original Diablo 2 running on [#popos](https://fosstodon.org/tags/popos) but things work well now.
